Pollen lands on stigma and germinates to form a pollen tube. The tube grows down through the style into the ovary/ovule. The male germ cell travels through the pollen tube and fuses with the female germ cell (egg) in the ovule.

Self-pollination: Transfer of pollen from anther to stigma of the same flower or another flower on the same plant. Cross-pollination: Transfer of pollen from anther of one flower to stigma of a flower on a different plant of the same species.
