CBSE 2026 31/7/1 · SCI · Hard · Carbon and its Compounds · SA · 3 marks

Attempt either (a) or (b):

(a) A neutral organic compound 'A' (molecular formula C2H6O\text{C}_2\text{H}_6\text{O}) reacts with acidified K2Cr2O7\text{K}_2\text{Cr}_2\text{O}_7 and on oxidation gives an acidic compound 'B'. Compound 'A' reacts with compound 'B' on warming, in the presence of concentrated H2SO4\text{H}_2\text{SO}_4 to give a sweet smelling substance 'C'. What are A, B and C? Also write their structures.
